Cats rely on sleep to cleanse and renew negative energies—a process only they know how to do. Those of us who live with our furry friends have witnessed their sleeping habits, so much so that some may claim that cats are “useless” because of the excessive amount of time they spend sleeping; however, the truth lies in what happens during those sleeping hours! That’s when their real work begins.
When a household is in disharmony—whether it’s due to tension, unresolved emotions, or an ill family member—cats intuitively understand this and seek to restore balance. They do this by absorbing energy from their home and therefore require more sleep so that they can transform the pent-up energy into harmony for themselves. This is why your cat may nap longer than usual when times are tough!
THE PURRING OF CAT
Cats are known for their ability to find comfort in purring. When your feline friend makes this comforting sound, it is a sign of love and appreciation for you and their surroundings. This sound produces a vibration that, when connected to a human’s energy field, causes positive changes. It is a resonance of attunement and support that is both therapeutic and restorative. Purring has similar effects to the recitation of mantras; in fact, many therapists now use purring to treat their patients! The calming effect of cats on people has become so popular that entire bars filled with cats are popping up everywhere – because who wouldn’t want to relax with a cat’s cuddles? Although cats are often perceived as independent and less affectionate than their canine counterparts, they do exhibit a form of unconditional love.
